Financial Controller 

Liverpool - £65-75,000 plus package

Resourcery Group are working exclusively with a fast growing but well established SME in Liverpool as they look to hire a new Financial Controller. This is an exciting opportunity for a hands on, Qualified Accountant who will work closely with the MD and Operations teams to drive financial performance. 

Reporting to and working closely with the MD, the Financial Controller will be responsible for the financial health, reporting, and compliance across a family owned business with diversified interests across financial services and property.

The role requires an entrepreneurial minded, hands-on and proactive Financial Controller to manage day-to-day financial operations across both business areas, ensuring robust internal controls, providing financial insights, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements across both sectors.

Key responsibilities:

• Oversee all financial operations, including loan accounting, ledger maintenance, and reconciliations.
• Develop and manage robust cash flow forecasting and reporting
• Support the business owner in monitoring and managing financial risks, including credit risk and liquidity risk, supporting mitigation strategies were relevant.
• Provide financial analysis and insights to support lending decisions and optimize portfolio performance.
• Develop and monitor budgets, forecasts, and cash flow for the property business, optimizing financial performance.
• Provide financial reporting and analysis
• Work closely with operational staff to optimize financial efficiency and support service delivery. 

General responsibilities:

• Prepare accurate and timely periodic financial statements and management accounts.
• Coordinate the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts, reporting on variances.
• Develop and maintain robust internal controls, policies, and procedures to safeguard assets and ensure compliance.
• Manage the external audit process, acting as the primary liaison with auditors and tax advisors.
• Provide financial advice and recommendations to the family leadership and business unit managers.
• Stay updated on relevant accounting standards and regulatory changes.
• Supervise and mentor junior finance staff as required. 

Qualifications and experience:

• Fully qualified (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent) or Qualified By Experience accountant.
• Proven experience as a Finance Manager/Financial Controller/Head of Finance in a similar SME entrepreneurial environment.
• Strong technical accounting knowledge, including GAAP/IFRS and relevant statutory and tax requirements.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Strong leadership, management, and communication skills, with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels.
• Proficiency in financial software and advanced Excel skills.
• Ability to work autonomously, manage multiple priorities, and adapt to a fast-paced environment. 

Salary package:

• £65,000 - £75,000 base salary
