Resourcery Group are recruiting on behalf of a large, PE-backed, global manufacturer in Chester who require an experienced and hands-on Financial Controller to lead a small but capable team in delivering real value to operational management.
As Financial Controller in the UK subsidiary of this large foreign-owned business you will be the number one finance individual on site reporting directly to the General Manager and Divisional Finance Director. Given the seniority of the role, reporting lines and operational exposure it is essential that all applicants possess plenty of experience of influencing stakeholders outside finance, driving real changes operationally and from a cost perspective. The Finance Controller is a key member of the Senior Management team and a decision maker in their own right. A such, you will possess the confidence, self-belief, gravitas and influencing skills to make decisions, advises others and drive the P&L forward.
The role requires you to manage a team (<6) and as such you must be a proven people manager, coach, mentor and developer of talent. The team requires a leader, someone who will lead by example and retain a hands-on involvement in the day-to-day where possible. You set the pace of the function and hav functional strategy autonomy and business strategy influence.
Candidates who possess experience of working in a UK subsidiary of a foreign-owned parent will be at an advantage as you will understand the impact of differing accounting standards and their application, the control environment, working cross-border with different time zones and ultimately being accountable for a country's performance.
In summary, the Financial Controller takes full responsibility for the management reporting (P&L, BS, CF), forecasting, budgeting and commercial/operational review ensuring product profitability.
Applicants must be:
- CIMA, ACCA or ACA qualified accountants
- Strong IFRS, SOx experience
- Have worked in a Manufacturing, Engineering, Aerospace, Automotive or FMCG environment
- Managed a team of at least 5 people
- Happy to remain hands-on
- Used to operating a member of a SMT
- Possess strong interpersonal skills and EQ capable of influencing a wider range of decision makers cross-functionally
- Worked as part of a large foreign-owned business in a multi-million turnover site
