Assistant Accountant

Assistant Accountant | Liverpool | £30,000 + study support | Permanent

We are supporting a well-established, growing national business in Liverpool in their search for an Assistant Accountant. 

This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious finance professional who is progressing through their accounting qualifications and looking to develop their management accounting experience within a large, established organisation.

Working closely with the Finance Manager, you'll gain exposure to month-end reporting, financial analysis, cash flow management and contract accounting, whilst building relationships with operational teams across the business.

Key Responsibilities

• Assist with month-end processes, including accruals, prepayments and balance sheet reconciliations.
• Prepare overhead analysis and support financial reporting.
• Maintain and update cash flow forecasts and daily cash reporting.
• Process intercompany recharges and timesheet postings.
• Support contract costing, accrued and deferred income calculations.
• Assist with order book reporting and reconciliations.
• Review expenses and company credit card transactions.
• Support wider finance activities and ad hoc reporting requirements.

For this Assistant Accountant role, you must be:

• Currently studying towards ACCA, CIMA, AAT or an equivalent accounting qualification.
• Previous experience in an Accounts Assistant or similar finance role.
• Good understanding of month-end processes, reconciliations and financial reporting.
• Strong Excel skills and confidence working with accounting systems.
• Excellent attention to detail, organisational skills and a proactive approach.
• Keen to develop technically and build relationships with stakeholders outside finance.
