Senior AP/AR Accountant

£40,000-£50,000 pro rata- 3–6 month contract- Ellesmere Port

We are recruiting for an experienced Senior AP/AR professional to join a well-established organisation on an initial 3-6 month contract.

This is a hands-on role covering purchase ledger, sales ledger, banking and reconciliations, with a strong focus on improving processes, controls and ways of working.

The role will be predominantly office-based for the first month, with the opportunity to move to a hybrid working model thereafter for the right person.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee and support purchase ledger, sales ledger and banking activities.
• Process transactions and resolve complex or aged queries.
• Complete and review bank, customer, supplier and control account reconciliations.
• Support month-end close and maintain accurate financial records.
• Identify and implement improvements to processes and controls.
• Work closely with the wider finance team to resolve issues and improve efficiency.

About you

• Strong transactional finance experience across AP, AR, banking and reconciliations.
• Confident working hands-on while also identifying process improvements.
• Good understanding of accounting fundamentals and balance sheet controls.
• Strong problem-solving and attention to detail.
• Pragmatic, calm and collaborative with a proactive approach.

The role offers

• £40,000-£50,000 pro rata
• 3-6 month contract
