Management Accountant

Management Accountant | £35,000-45,000 | Knowsley | Permanent

We’re recruiting for a well-established manufacturing business in Knowsley looking to appoint a Management Accountant to work closely with the UK Finance Manager and site leadership team.

This is a broad role combining month-end accounting, budgeting and forecasting, stock, cash flow and commercial analysis, with plenty of opportunity to understand what is happening operationally and turn the numbers into useful information for the business.

As Management Accountant, you’ll take ownership of the month-end process for the site, producing accurate and timely financial information while helping improve reporting, processes and financial controls.

Responsibilities will include:

• Ownership of the month-end accounting process
• Producing monthly management reporting and providing insight into performance
• Preparing budgets and forecasts
• Cash flow forecasting
• Stock valuation, reporting and supporting quarterly stocktakes
• Balance sheet reconciliations and intercompany accounting
• Maintaining the fixed asset register
• Producing weekly flash reporting
• Sales and performance analysis
• VAT returns
• Providing financial analysis to support operational and strategic decisions
• Supporting year-end and the external audit process
• Identifying opportunities to improve financial processes, systems and controls
• Supporting wider finance projects and ad hoc analysis

A particularly important part of the role will be producing the monthly reporting pack for the Site General Manager, highlighting performance and identifying areas for improvement.

We’re looking for someone who already has good grounding in management accounts and is comfortable taking responsibility for their own workload.

Ideally, you will:

• Be part-qualified or qualified ACCA/CIMA/ACA, or equivalent
• Have previous Management Accountant or similar experience
• Have strong analytical and financial modelling skills
• Be confident working with stakeholders across a business
• Be comfortable working to month-end deadlines
• Have strong Excel skills, including Pivot Tables and VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP
• Be proactive and keen to improve how things are done
