Assistant Accountant

Resourcery Group is supporting a Liverpool-based Housing Association in the search for an Assistant Accountant – Tax to join their finance team. Reporting into a Senior Accountant, you’ll play a key role in supporting the delivery of an efficient and compliant tax function across a complex organisation. The Role

This is a varied role as Assistant Accountant – Tax where you’ll support across a range of tax and finance activities, including:

• Supporting tax compliance across VAT, CIS, Corporation Tax and SDLT
• Preparing data and schedules for tax returns and submissions
• Assisting with annual tax computations and ongoing reporting
• Reviewing financial data to identify risks, trends, and opportunities
• Helping improve tax processes, controls, and documentation
• Supporting automation and efficiency improvements
• Working with internal teams, HMRC, and external advisors
• Maintaining accurate records and audit trails

About You

• Part-qualified (AAT or studying ACCA/CIMA/ACA)
• Some exposure to tax (VAT, CIS, Corporation Tax) — or a strong interest in this area
• Experience in a finance role within a larger or more complex organisation (desirable)
• Strong Excel skills (PivotTables, XLOOKUP, SUMIFS)
• High attention to detail and strong analytical skills
• Well organised, able to manage multiple deadlines
• Proactive, adaptable, and keen to learn
• Strong communication skills and able to build relationships across the business
