Financial Accountant

Senior Financial Accountant | Chester | £55,000 - £60,000

An opportunity to join a highly ambitious Manufacturing business based outside of Chester. Internally this role will be highly visible and be a key member of the central finance team, working closely with the Financial Controller and CFO.

Offering a hybrid working policy, this business is renowned for hiring and developing its staff in a supportive environment. Ideally suited to an ACA qualified Accountant looking for a second, more senior role in industry, main duties will include;

• Prepare accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in line with IFRS and statutory requirements
• Own the general ledger, including journals, accruals, prepayments, and balance sheet reconciliations
• Lead statutory accounts preparation and act as the primary contact for external auditors
• Ensure timely and compliant tax filings, including VAT returns and corporation tax support
• Support month-end and year-end close processes, meeting tight reporting deadlines
• Partner with FP&A and commercial teams to provide financial insight and variance analysis
• Maintain and improve financial controls, processes, and documentation
• Support system improvements, automation initiatives, and accounting policy changes
• Manage and mentor junior finance team members where applicable
• Contribute to ad-hoc projects such as acquisitions, integrations, or process transformation

Candidate profile;

• Qualified ACA/ACCA
• Strong technical background
• Excellent Excel skills
• Prior staff management is advantageous
