Salary: £26,000 – £31,000 (dependent on experience)

Are you looking to take your first step into a finance career with a values-led organisation that makes a real difference in local communities?

I am supporting a not-for-profit Housing Association in Lancashire, committed to providing safe, affordable, and sustainable homes. Guided by their values, they put people at the heart of everything they do – and now they are looking for an Assistant Accountant to join their supportive Finance team.

This is an excellent opportunity for:

  • A recent graduate in Accounting & Finance seeking your first role in the sector.

  • Someone who has already started their AAT qualifications and is looking for long-term training, development, and career progression.

With full study support and structured development, this role is the perfect platform to grow into a confident finance professional.

What you’ll be doing:

Working closely with our Management Accountant, you’ll play a key part in supporting the month-end process and wider finance function. Typical responsibilities will include:

  • Assisting with the preparation of monthly management accounts

  • Posting journals, accruals, and prepayments

  • Reconciling control accounts and bank accounts

  • Assisting with budget monitoring and variance analysis

  • Supporting the production of financial reports for managers and stakeholders

  • Maintaining accurate financial records in line with audit and compliance requirements

  • Providing day-to-day support across the finance team as required

What we’re looking for:

  • A degree in Accounting & Finance or part-qualified AAT with ambitions to continue studies

  • Strong numeracy skills with attention to detail

  • A proactive approach and willingness to learn

  • Good IT skills, particularly Excel and finance systems

  • A values-driven team player who is passionate about making a difference

What is on offer:

  • Competitive salary of £26,000 – £31,000 (dependent on experience)

  • Full study support to complete your professional qualifications

  • 25 days annual leave, plus additional Christmas closure

  • CSR days to give back to the community

  • Subsidised car parking

  • A supportive, people-focused working culture where your growth matters

  • Defined pension scheme

If you’re ready to begin or continue your career in finance within a supportive, community-focused Housing Association, we’d love to hear from you.
