WELCOME TO THE TEAM - LAURA BROWN

Q: Laura, welcome to Resourcery Group!

A: Thanks so much- it’s so good to be here and work with you all again!

Q: What have you been doing in recent years?

A: I’ve been in recruitment since 2010 and worked in Houston, Texas for a year or so. When I returned to the UK in 2014,I found myself working Public Sector, Not for Profit sectors and knew this was the market I wanted to have the biggest impact in. I worked for Page Group, across the Northwest overseeing the permanent finance markets and was exposed to many interesting organisations that have such incredible outreach and impact. In recent years, I worked the Exec, Sub Exec and qualified finance markets.

I am also a wife and mum of 2 boys which has been keeping me busy in recent years! I have also learnt, my negotiating skills and patience have been put to the test but nevertheless the most rewarding job of all!

Q: What made you choose Resourcery Group?

A: It was an easy decision to make on many levels. Firstly, the opportunity to work with Josh Stirrett, Allison Hodgkinson, Mark Thomas, Daniel Witterick and Christian Lawrence again was a big pull, and knowing that Adam Pudvine had recently joined solidified that I’ll be working with likeminded people. It was the pull of being able to work with a team who I trust, can have a laugh with and who are, in my opinion, fantastic at their jobs. We all share the same philosophy and values on how people should be treated, how recruitment should be done- working with honesty, providing objective advice, being consultative and building long-lasting, genuine relationships. Secondly- The opportunity to shape and grow a business, with autonomy, support and trust was a massive pull for me. I wanted to have the ability to have more of an impact across Not for Profit and Public Sector and to support my clients and candidates in a way, that I believed, wasn’t possible whilst working in a large corporate. The possibilities and opportunity to make a difference is so exciting.

Q: What’s your impression of the Accountancy and Finance recruitment market at present?

A: Generally speaking, there are still good levels of activity and demand for talent across the Public Sector and Not for Profit. A few sub sectors are witnessing significant growth whilst others remain consistent. Having a deeper insight into how each of these are trending enables me to ensure I can provide specific market insights and support to both candidates and clients. Across the market in the last 18 months, we have witnessed salaries increasing which has impacted the third and public sectors at times who struggled to compete. The challenge, therefore, has been to attract talent who are not only technically able, but also have a ‘value add’ mentality. Through building genuine, trusted networks across my sector, I have been able to attract, secure talent and help place individuals into their next career move.

Q: Is there anything else you want to add?

A: I am just delighted to be part of the RG team, to build something special and to work with this lovely bunch! There are big plans across our company, and I am excited to see them all come to fruition. With hard work, teamwork, trust and a genuine desire to add value in our markets I know we will continue to build our reputation and footprint in the market.

I have also learnt, the art of coffee making is far too prescriptive for me, I am sticking to my PG Tips ( other brands available!!)
