Resourcery Group are working exclusively in partnership with a £100m t/o UK subsidiary of a global, >£2bn t/o Group to identify and recruit a Financial Controller/Finance Director Designate.

About our client

Based within commutable distance from either Manchester, Liverpool, Preston or Chester, our client is a global, listed business with a truly international footprint operating at the forefront of it's industry. Within the UK they hold market share and operate globally as the 2nd largest operator. It goes without say, that the business is highly profitable and forecasting growth across all major markets in the coming years.

The business is a complex one with many complementary moving parts and as such applicants for the position of Financial Controller/Finance Director Designate must be able to display prior experience of working in a similar foreign-owned, complex-structured UK subsidiary business.

Reporting to the UK CEO and Group Finance, the Financial Controller/Finance Director Designate will hold a key role in the UK business as the number one finance representative, managing a Finance & Admin function of 10 heads. The Financial Controller/Finance Director Designate will work hand-in-hand with the CEO acting as a key support to the commercial and operational decision making for the UK businesses. P&L focused and MI-orientated you will help support and guide the direction of the business.

In addition, and of equal importance, you will take stewardship of the UK Finance function and act as custodian for the UK business in the eyes of Group. You will, as such, as Financial Controller/Finance Director Designate, work very closely with your counterparts at head office - internationally - providing guidance and peace of mind that the UK business is being run from a sound financial, risk and governance perspective. Prior experience of preparing, reviewing and submitting month financial reports to Group, as well as interpretation of results driving growth is essential. Working capital management and cash flow management naturally come with the territory. In addition to these key stakeholders you will also partner closely with Sales Directors, Key Account Managers and Operational staff to provide greater insight and understanding and help drive the business forward profitably.

Given the global positioning of the Group and prominence of the UK business it is important that the highest standards are maintained and adhered to from a finance,risk and governance perspective. Your role as Financial Controller/Finance Director Designate will require you to undertake Company Secretarial duties as well as ensure segregation of duties, improve financial controls and driving improvements across the board from a finance, people and systems perspective.

The requirements

In summary, applicants should:

  • be CIMA, ACCA or ACA qualified
  • possess experience working as part of a larger global Group in an autonomous UK subsidiary
  • possess Group reporting experience
  • have demonstrable experience of managing a finance team (<10 heads)
  • be able to evidence rapid career progression and possess excellent and consistent academics.
  • given the wide range of stakeholders, possess the ability to work cross-functionally and influence using Emotional Intelligence to a high degree.
