Finance Director
An esteemed education establishment in North Liverpool is seeking an exceptional Director of Finance & Business Development to play a pivotal role in shaping its financial strength and long-term sustainability.
This is a senior, hands-on role combining technical financial leadership with strategic and commercial influence. As a core member of the Executive Leadership Team, you will use your strong numerical capability and commercial acumen to drive informed decision-making, improve financial performance, and support growth.
The Role
You will lead the institution’s finance function and commercial activities, translating complex financial data into clear insights that influence strategic and operational decisions. Alongside day-to-day financial leadership, you will shape and deliver longer-term financial and enterprise strategies.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading budgeting, forecasting, cashflow management and five-year financial planning
Producing high-quality management information to support Executive and Governor decision-making
Driving commercial performance, income diversification and return on investment
Providing financial and commercial advice to the Head and Governors
Ensuring robust financial controls, compliance and risk management
Oversight of IT, data, and the School’s trading subsidiary
Acting as Company Secretary
About You
You will be a qualified accountant (CIMA/ ACCA/ ACA or equivalent) with:
Outstanding numerical and analytical skills
Proven experience in influencing commercial and strategic decisions, not just reporting
A track record of improving financial sustainability and efficiency
The confidence to operate at both in day to day detail and at Board level
Strong communication skills, able to engage with non-financial stakeholders
Experience in education or a regulated environment is advantageous but not essential.
