Overview

We are recruiting for a proactive and detail-oriented Accounts Assistant to join a well-established business based in Formby. This is an excellent temp-to-perm opportunity for a motivated individual looking to develop their finance career within a supportive and fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

The Accounts Assistant will support the finance team with day-to-day accounting tasks, including:


  • Purchase Ledger: Processing supplier invoices, reconciling statements, resolving queries.
  • Sales Ledger: Raising invoices, allocating payments, assisting with customer account management.
  • Credit Control: Monitoring outstanding debt, contacting customers, and maintaining accurate records of collection activity.
  • Bank Reconciliations: Completing regular reconciliations and investigating discrepancies.
  • Petty Cash Management: Issuing and recording petty cash transactions, ensuring accurate balances.
  • General Finance Administration: Filing, data entry, updating spreadsheets, and supporting month-end processes as required.

Skills & Experience Required


  • Previous experience in an accounts or finance support role (purchase ledger, sales ledger, or credit control experience desirable).
  • Strong numerical and analytical skills with excellent attention to detail.
  • Good knowledge of accounting software and MS Office (especially Excel).
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team.
